A push-through safety device for double racking is a system for double pallet racking with handling on both sides. Double-sided handling or double-sided operation means that, for example, forklift trucks can approach the racking from two sides and load and unload it. The push-through protection prevents the pallet behind it from shifting when loading and unloading a pallet.
What are the advantages of a push-through fuse?
Shifts in pallet racking can be dangerous. Especially if the pallets are heavily loaded, for example with coils or heavy goods of long lengths. When shifting, the weight shifts and the racking system can become damaged or even unstable.
Push-through guards prevent pallets from shifting and the pallet rack from tipping, for example. They also prevent the pallets that are behind the loaded or unloaded pallet from sliding out. A small operating error by the forklift driver can already initiate the "mishap". In this way, push-through safety devices increase occupational safety.
Push-through safety devices are not mandatory. They are obsolete if the double racking is configured according to the regulations of the DGUV rule (DGVU 108-007, point 4.2.4.4 and 4.2.4.5). The push-through guard becomes necessary if the minimum distance between the pallets in the racking is only 100 millimetres or less or cannot be maintained.
Push-through stops differ from manufacturer to manufacturer. Usually, the stop pops out of the holder at a certain impact load. In any case, the push-through safety devices are not intended as an end stop for pallet storage. They are not statically designed for this purpose.
What is a push-through fuse suitable for?
Push-through guards are used for safe storage in pallet racking if the minimum distance of ten centimetres between the pallets cannot be maintained.
